8 Men’s fashion trends for Autumn/Winter 2019-2020

The F/W 2019-2020 season has officially begun. The new trends for men’s fashion have been traced, and let us foresee a breaking trend with respect to the past that will extend even into future years.

The common denominator seems to be the same on all the catwalks: the classic is no longer a classic. Today, even the most formal looks are still pervaded by a touch of personal style, from a detail that stands out.

Perhaps due to the increasingly prevalent presence of streetwear and self-expression, even the most classic oufits lovers are seeking more eccentricity: a velvet jacket can be combined with formal trousers; an under-jacket can replace the classic shirt for business appointments; a knit sweater in fine wool – but with a casual touch – can be a good match with a pair of elegant trousers.

But now, let’s discover more: here is a “best of” of the latest trends from the catwalks.

Knit sweaters, in wool or cashmere

We had already seen them in the previews at the beginning of the year, and they were confirmed. Knit sweaters, revisited and with details that give originality – such as large buttons or bright colors – have appeared on the catwalks of Prada, N 21, Versace.

This great classic never seems to go out of style, but it is better to choose the best combinations carefully and look for details that make each garment unique.

For this reason, Lanieri has launched its first collection of sweaters customizable in length, type of neck, weft. 100% cashmere or 100% wool, in particular or classic colors, depending on whether you want to wear them in business occasions – perhaps under a jacket – or in your free time.

Prints, what a passion

Classics, yes… but with an extra touch. Prada, Valentino, Marni and Jun Takahashi have brought tie dye, optical and graphic prints to the fore, proposing them in coats, suits, jackets: a wink to the Seventies with a look to the future.

In the Italian Hollywood Lanieri collection you can find men’s pocket squares and dress shirts that match this vision, allowing you to be fashionable even if you just add a simple detail to your outfit.

Velvet, a great return

Elegant in suits, but also extremely contemporary when worn with a casual style. In Etro’s outfits, the fabric is the protagonist on suits with tuxedo jackets and slim pants with original patterns.

The velvet as seen by Lanieri is proposed as the protagonist of classic suits with an extra touch of creativity, ideal for trying on combinations with particular shirts or playing with a business attire.

Mustard, for unexpected combinations

A color mistakenly considered casual or sporty, the lemon curry or mustard is also suitable for very elegant looks: Dolce & Gabbana and Gucci characterize their 2020 collections with wool and velvet overcoats with this enveloping nuances, combined with contrasting shades of blue.

Bordeaux, or Dark Red

The dark red seen in the men’s collections of Hermès and Neil Barrett is reminiscent of the iron soil of distant and exotic places, or the intense color of a fine wine.

It is a nuance that conveys an emotion, and that is perfect for warming up your winter outfits with a warm note. It’s time to dare.

You can do it by trying to wear a touch of burgundy mitigated by more classic colors or choose to surprise with an unexpected knit sweater.

Rusty: a comfortable and disengaged style

The color for autumn winter 2019-2020 according to Gucci, MSGM and Xander Zhou is rusty, for looks with a comfortable fit inspired by workwear and outdoor clothing.

It certainly matches well with shades ranging from yellow or lime, but you can also play with contrasts, as evidenced by the Lanieri tie in print with seventies inspiration.

Aubergine violet

It looks like a difficult color to wear, but the catwalks have proven the opposite: purple, with a hint of red or brown, is the tone of this season for brands like Ermenegildo Zegna and Missoni. Do you want a sophisticated, non-conformist look?

Houndstooth

One of the most popular prints in the cold season is the Houndstooth (AKA “pied de poule”) weave, which continues to confirm a must-have theme for autumn winter 2019-2020.

Declined on each item of clothing, it offers an alternative to the classic suit, embellishing and characterizing it … without making it too eccentric. Perfect for work, but also for leisure time.
