There’s a desire for normality, spontaneous elegance and a style that doesn’t give way to eccentricity in the air of Florence. The 97th edition of Pitti Uomo has just ended and has confirmed it: today classic style mixes with casualwear creating a new way of wearing menswear.

In the next winter’s wardrobe, we will find the tailored style combined with basic knitwear, many separates looks with check pants and a palette made up of brown or white colours.

If you want to be updated on the biggest trends in Autumn/Winter 2020 men’s fashion, here is our top 6 of male trends spotted at Pitti Uomo.

Corduroy

Until a few years ago, it was relegated only to more casual occasions (and far away from city limits), but corduroy will be one of the trendiest fabrics in the coming Autumn. Its contemporary reinterpretation, wearable in the office as for leisure, refers to the 70s fashion and, at the same time, is cut from contemporary lines and volumes. Slim-cut trousers, unstructured jacket and fabrics in neutral shades, beige and Havana colours are alternated with bold browns and greens.

Structured fabrics

Blazers and coats we’ll wear next autumn will be made with extraordinary structured fabrics. Refined weaves that enhance the construction of fabrics and make the garments more interesting and resistant to creases. Particular structures that guarantee optimal performance in terms of resistance and practicality, and boost their colour combinations.

White and more

The direction traced in the stands and streets of Pitti is quite clear: white colour, with all its beige and cream shades, will be the main character of the coming winter. Next to the all-white palette, we’ll find burnt colours and infinite shades of dark green.

Velvet and flannel shirts

Flannel made-to-measure shirts

Outerwear draws the boundaries of each outfit and characterizes its essence, but shirts also play their part. During the next cold season, the most used casual fabrics will be velvet (micro striped) and flannel. The colour ranges with denim effect remain in pole position, assuming they are not discoloured.

Turtleneck with suit look

Turtlenecks are back. Great knitwear classic to be worn with jeans, chinos or trousers with a more elegant cut, turtlenecks steal the scene from pullovers even in the most formal contexts, combined with tailored-cut suits.

Check trousers

The spezzato, literally translates to “broken” in Italian and means mashing up two well-fitting suits in complementary fabrics and contrasting colours. This is a great alternative to most rigorous formal full-suits and is a winning choice for those who look for a refined yet unconventional look. Combos featuring Prince of Wales or windowpane trousers will be absolute must-haves in the 20/21 fall/winter wardrobe.
